Kevin
Figes Trio

Kevin Figes- alto sax
Rriaan Vosloo - bass
Andy Tween - drums
Kevin has lead his own quartet for many years, playing his original material.
In 1997 the band won lottery money to produce a cd and then toured the country
with a jazz services grant. After spending 2001/02 at the Guildhall London
(with tuition and inspiration from Tim Garland) the quartet was reformed
and continues to record and play around the country. Most recently the band
has played the 606 Club (London), Sherbourne Jazz club and Glastonbury Festival
from which they did a live broadcast for Radio Three's jazz line-up.
Kevin's other associations include Keith Tippett's "Tapestry"
and smaller groups, the Welsh Jazz Composers Orchestra (to which he contributed
a piece), Brazilian Beats of Sirius B and bands of Jim Blomfield and Andy
Hague. London based Riaan Vosloo is much in demand and plays and writes
for Nostalgia '77. Andy Tween is also playing with many bands, including
Pee Wee Ellis and most recently folk star Seth Lakeman.
The trio is a natural offshoot from the quartet playing a mixture of standards
and originals. The trio exploits the freedom of the airwaves and with great
interaction plays ballads to fast and furious, free to tight harmonic structures.
