Sunset
Cafe Stompers

Formed in 1989 the band plays exciting traditional jazz in the style of
the New Orleans masters and have acquired a strong following in their home
territory of Dorset and a national reputation by appearing at the Bude,
Keswick and other major festivals, including a previous visit to ours in
2005.
The front line features Jim Holmes on trumpet and vocals, trombonist Bob
Kefford and Mike Betts on clarinet and tenor sax.
The hard-driving rhythm section includes Pete Farley on banjo & guitar,
Pete Winehart on drums, Pete Ward on Double Bass and ragtime, boogie-woogie
and stride specialist Mike Denham on piano.
The bands' repertoire, while firmly rooted in New Orleans, covers a wider
range than most British bands and includes compositions made famous by Duke
Ellington, King Oliver and Jelly Roll Morton
