Sounds
of J & K
Mark Nightingale &
Alistair White

This all-star
group celebrates the unmistakable happy, swinging sounds of the great JJ
Johnson and Kai Winding quintet. Fronted by two of the major forces in British
jazz trombone playing, namely Mark Nightingale and Alistair White.
Mark's outstanding talent became widely recognised when he won the coveted
Don Lusher Award at the age of fifteen. At sixteen he was already lead in
NYJO and since graduating from Trinity College of Music has not only flourished
as one of the busiest session-musicians, but also become highly respected
and sought after internationally.
Alistair White is also a recipient of the prestigious Don Lusher Award and
considered to be this Country's next important trombone voice. Alistair
is in demand as a sideman, in Big Bands, with pop bands, and as part of
the orchestra for TV and west end shows.
Dave Newton (piano) is a much sought after pianist and has been voted best
Jazz Pianist in the British Jazz awards seven times and was made a Fellow
of Leeds College of Music in 2003.
Arnie Somogyi (bass) is one of the UK's outstanding bass talents - musician,
bandleader, composer, presenter, and music lecturer - and is much in demand
among leading US & European musicians.
Clark Tracey (drums) naturally has jazz in his blood. He is a composer,
arranger, educator, band leader and of course one of the UK's best drummers.
He has recorded on over 90 albums and played in approximately 50 countries.
