Des
Bacon's Red Hot Syncopators
Prepare to be transported back to in time to the late 1920s in the United
States of America. It was the time of flappers, gangsters and bathtub gin,
when people danced the Charleston, the Black Bottom and the Lindy Hop. It
was the time when Classic Jazz came to the fore, with Armstrong, Ellington
and Henderson. Des's band, formed in 2000, recreate this music with all
its original energy, passion and excitement. Des (Alto/Soprano sax & clarinet)
has been playing since the 1950s and also arranges the tunes, is joined
by Steve Graham (trumpet), Arthur Vincent (Tenor/Soprano sax & clarinet)
Malcolm Hurrell (banjo) and Richard Willey (sousaphone) all of whom have
years of experience. Guesting with the band on a few numbers will be Penn
Pengelly playing the rarely heard Eb metal clarinet.
