Charlotte
Glasson Quintet
Charlotte started out on the violin at 5, but as a teenager started the
saxophone in her hometown of Brighton. She moved to London and obtained
a classical music degree from Kingston University, and since then has played
or recorded with Claire Martin, Ian Shaw, Herbie Flowers, Oasis, Divine
Comedy, and many more. Recently she learnt the saw, for the new show the
'Lost and Found Orchestra,' by the creators of the original percussion junk
show 'Stomp' and performed this in the Sydney Opera House last year. The
band plays originals written by Charlotte (saxes, flutes and violin), who
is joined by Dan Hewson (trombone and piano), Dave Holdsworth (trumpet and
tuba), Jason Henson (guitar) and Sam Glasson (drums and percussion), the
band sound draws on a variety of styles and influences, reflecting their
own broad taste and experience in music - including Gypsy, Arabic and Brazilian.
